What Type of Counselling Do I Provide?

Humanistic Counselling including aspects of CBT and Mindfulness Therapy

Create the changes you want. Counselling is not about providing advice as our friends or families may do. It is more about getting compassionate and non- judgmental support with a suitably trained person who can help you find your way forward from the challenges you are facing. You are capable of so much more than you ever realise. Counselling offers an opportunity to come to some understanding about your thoughts, feelings and behaviours which keep you stuck, feeling lost or anxious. This can  help you make positive changes in your life.

What Can You Expect in a Session?

It is advisable to come to an initial consultation session where you can meet me and we can discuss how I may best help you.

Once you feel comfortable working with me, we can arrange further counselling sessions. The number of sessions may depend on the complexity of your problems and how you feel about the therapy. Initially, 4 to 6 sessions are offered with a view to increasing them as necessary. You will always be consulted about this.

How Long Does it Take?

Counselling can be short term, medium term or open ended depending on the needs of the client.

Short term can be 4-6 weeks, medium term up to 20 weeks and open ended over 12 months. Often short term counselling focuses on a specific issue where as longer time may be needed to make meaning of more complex problems, and create new ways of being. Every client is individual and no fixed rules can be applied. I will always work in the best interest of the client.
